Raised Spot UV Varnish

Raised spot UV varnish is one of the oldest printing effects, which for the first time gave printed pieces a third dimension—touch.

What is Raised Spot UV Varnish?

Raised glossy UV spot varnish is technologically divided into two types: raised UV spot varnish executed using screen printing technology and raised UV spot varnish executed using digital technology.

The thickness (height) of the screen printing technology varnish is limited and it is 30 microns.

Digitally, the maximum is up to 180 microns. However, we recommend staying below 80 microns, beyond which surface tension develops and the paper begins to curl. Often, going over 80 microns also becomes financially impractical.

The most optimal thickness is 70 microns.

There is a very important technological difference. The advantage of screen printing is an extremely sharp and clear edge. Meanwhile, with digital varnish, the varnish is applied droplet by droplet (micron by micron), which is why the edge is pixelated and not as straight.

Take it to the Next Level with 3D Varnish

This is our newest printing effect. According to the print file, a robotic line applies 1-4 varnish layers of different heights simultaneously to your printed pieces. This is digital printing technology.
